Privacy Policy
The short version: the numbers you type never leave your device, because the calculators run entirely in your browser.
Conversion factors verified
What we collect
Nothing you type into a calculator. Every conversion on this site is performed by JavaScript running on your own device. The values you enter are never transmitted to a server, never logged and never stored. There is no network request associated with a conversion, so there is nothing for us to collect even in principle.
We do not require an account, we do not ask for an email address, and we do not operate a login of any kind.
Going the other way, miles to feet does the reverse conversion. If you want a figure already worked out, conversion chart lists the common ones, and about & methodology documents every constant used here and where it comes from.
Cookies
Google Analytics sets two first-party cookies (_ga and_ga_<id>) to tell repeat visits apart from new ones. They expire after two years and hold a randomly generated identifier — not a name, an email address, or anything you type.
We use no advertising cookies, no tracking pixels, no fingerprinting scripts and no cross-site identifiers. Google Signals, which would link your visit to a Google account across sites, is not enabled.
Server logs
Like any website, our hosting provider records standard request logs when a page is served — the URL requested, the time, an IP address, and a browser user-agent string. These are generated by the web server rather than by us, and are used only for security and to diagnose faults. They are not linked to any individual and are not used to build a profile.
Crucially, these logs record which page was requested. They do not and cannot record what you converted on it, because that information is never sent.
Analytics
This site uses Google Analytics 4 to count page views and see which calculators people actually use. It records the page you visited, an approximate location derived from your IP address, and your browser and device type. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses — the address is used to derive a coarse location and is then discarded. That is the platform’s default behaviour and cannot be switched off.
It does not record anything you type into a calculator. Conversions run entirely in your browser and the values never leave your device, so there is nothing for any analytics service to collect. That has not changed and will not.
You can opt out with Google’s browser add-on, or with any content blocker — the calculators work identically either way, because none of them depend on it.
Third parties
Google Analytics is the only third-party script on this site. There are no external fonts, no embedded widgets and no advertising — fonts are self-hosted and served from the same origin as the page. Our Content Security Policy names the Google Analytics domains explicitly, so no other third party can load a script here even if one were introduced by mistake.
Children
This is a general-purpose reference tool with no accounts and no data collection, so it is safe for use by anyone. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, of any age, because we do not collect personal information at all.
Your rights
Data-protection regimes such as the GDPR and CCPA give you rights to access, correct and delete personal data held about you. We hold none, so there is nothing to access, correct or delete. If you would like confirmation of that in writing, contact us and we will provide it.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the revised version will appear on this page with an updated review date. Material changes — particularly anything that would introduce data collection — will be described explicitly rather than folded silently into the text.
